There were way too many characters for me in this book. So many, it seemed to make the story drag. Not a lot had happened by the time I was half-way through, so I gave up. I didn't like the way the main character was 'fooling around' with a married man either.

I give this two stars. It would only have been one star, except I really liked the author's writing style. I will definitely try another of her book.

Christine Jones writes delightful stories, set in the English countryside. Going the Distance is on of the stories set in a village, peopled with interesting and warm characters, many of whom are involved in horse racing and breeding. The love story is lovely as well.
I cannot recommend this author enough to those who enjoy Jill Mansell, Jenny Colgan, Carole Matthews et al. She deserves to be as popular as any of those.

Excellent ending! Looking forward to Drew and Maddy's love story in the quaint village of Milton St John! Love prevails!

That was what my best friend said when she handed me a copy of "Going The Distance".
From the very first page I was hooked on Maddy's story and I'm sure there is a little part of her that we can all identify with.
Ms. Jones's wonerful descripton of Milton St John in the morning and of the surroundings and characters she deftly introduces us to is perfect. The descriptions give you a picture that stays with you long after the book has been put down.......not that you will want to put it down that is.
